Hi Monica,
My niece, Heather Reeves Datus, sent me your website link because she knew that I have been down this same road this year. As I read all your postings, I couldn’t help but feel how familiar it all was. I finished my chemo in May (same three drugs over 4 hours - 6 treatments total, every three weeks) and finished my 7 weeks of radiation in July. All I can say is that God is sooooo good, as I experienced His love and care for me through all of this. You sound like your initial experience with the chemo was about the same as mine. No nausea (thanks to the meds they give you). I did find that extreme fatigue started settling in about day 3 or 4 and would last a few days then pass (3 days at first, increasing about treatment #4 to 5 days). Listen to your body and just rest during that time. Once I was past the first week, the next two weeks were pretty normal and I was physically ready for the next treatment. Pay attention to your body and any changes, discomfort, etc. that you experience, then be sure you let your doctor know. There is no reason to suffer if they can do something for you. And it will all be finished before you know it. God has a way of making time fly by. Just keep focused on Him and He will see you through. I’m open to questions if I can be of any assistance. My email address is: schultzenegger4@yahoo.com . Feel free to contact me if you want to ”chat”. And bald is not so bad. After I got over the few days of extremely sensitive scalp, I found myself or my husband constantly rubbing my head. It was kind of funny. Just keep a good sense of humor and you can get through the tough times. The party to shave your head is a great idea. I laughed so much when I had my hair shaved off. We played with styles in the process, sculpting and eventually a mohawk. It was pretty funny to see myself that way. So ENJOY!!! Make it fun. Hang in there. You are in good hands, the creator of the universe.

P.S. You may know some of my other relatives from church in Paradise (the Bolins and the Kevwitches - aunts, uncles and cousins).

I am so happy that your first chemo experience was positive overall. And just for the record, I'm sure you'll be stunning bald. Is Sol going to shave his head, too? :)

Turst my Love

My knees are weak
my heart is sad
the problems, they multiply...
I want to believe
that you're in control--
but sometimes, I just cry.
My needs are real
they pull my heart
and lead me to Your throne,
Where you take me in
your arms and say,
"Your life is not your own...
You're bought with a price,
the cost was high--
I gave my only Son.
So give up your rights
and trust my love,
my holy and chosen one."
How could I fight
His gentle voice,
or His humble and helpful heart;
He comes alongside
and takes on my yoke,
and leaves me the lighter part.

Sometimes it seems as though God asks too much of us; I felt like that last year when my son had leukemia. For reasons I cannot claim to understand, you are there now. I am so very glad that you know the love of God, and I pray that you will remember that love even when days are hard. I can tell you that there are lessons and blessings in the midst of life's hardest times. He is always with you, He always loves you, and He will continue to give you the strength to get through this time, as He is already doing. You are still a holy and chosen child of the King, and He still wants to hold you in His arms, and carry your burdens.

Love and hugs and blessings~~~

Lord, as Sol and Monica continue down this path, please give them peace about the future. Lord, they never expected to have to deal with stuff like this… but You’re still in charge, You’re still God. Guide them, give them wisdom and courage to make the decisions they’re going to have to make. Lord, support Monica as she goes through the chemo,,, give her grace and strength as she goes through the treatments. Father, also help Sol to bear up under the strain through which he’s going. Father they’ve got a little one who’s totally freaked out about the adults around him. Give him peace and help him settle down. Lord, in Jesus’ name we ask you to use Your authority against Satan who would try to discourage and dishearten them all. Use Your authority and let them have be free of his attempted control. Father, You alone are Lord and God and we worship You and put You, Your son Jesus and Your Holy Spirit back on the throne in this situation. Thank You, Lord for being an ever-present help in trouble. In Jesus’ Name, amen.

Dear Sol and Monica,
Be encouraged! We know that God causes ALL things to come together for good for those who love Him and are called according to His purpose. Romans 8:28.
I know this is a difficult way to be used by God but we are living in end times and He is searching the earth for His most faithful, the children He knows will give Him ALL the glory in all circumstances to reach and show His great power and great peace to a hurt and lost world. God promises miracles and signs and wonders in these days and I stand with Jess and Martha and firmly believe you will have an amazing testimony that will be a witness to people across this State and beyond. God will use you and Sol to prove the truth of His word and the great soverignty of our Father through His Son Jesus the Messiah!
God has put it on my heart to end every prayer ”and I promise to give you all the glory”! Meditate on the word Glory, God wants you to start saying it over and over and over as you speak of Him in the days ahead. We are praying along with Jess and Martha for God’s great healing to touch you when ”He is ready”.
I found a passage in the Word and shared it with Jess at bible study. Be encouraged by Isaiah chapter 38. God had the ability to heal Hezekiah immediately but He instructed a remedy to be used in verse 21.
”The Lord will save me, and we will sing with stringed instruments all the days of our lives” (Isaiah 38:20). Tell Sol to get his guitar ready, we are going to be singing with you both!
We love you both, you are close to us in heart.
