I feel so honored to be able to get peeks into how you and Kai are doing. I think of Monica a lot still myself. The moments of sadness are still very strong. Poor Kai, I am so glad that he is working through it as well as yourself, I am just so sad to hear how hard it is. Hang in there. The fact that you are so open and trying to share things, I am sure will help with your healing. Take care....lots of love, support and gentle thoughts are being sent your way.

Hey Sol,
I just keep thinking about our dear, vibrant friend, Monica these past few weeks. Maybe because it's nearly been a year since she left, but she's on my mind a lot. And so I think of you two. I'm so happy for you guys in your new place. I hope we'll get to see some pictures soon, when you get the time. I imagine Kai has changed so much over the past months. Thank you for continuing to keep up the website. Were Monica still here I'd be getting updates along with the rest of the XV gang about the many changes, the funny stories and memorable, sometimes challenging moments of his young life. Thanks to you we are still able to catch a glimpse here and there of those things. Kostya, the kids and I still pray for you and Kai. Despite the fact that we live too far away to get together, your names are familiar around here. Bella often looks at pictures on your site and we talk about Heaven and Jesus. Take care, Sol.

Oh Sol, my heart breaks for you...I too wish I could find a letter or something. It's different for me because, since he's my son, I have little notes that he wrote me when he was little but I want something from him as a "grown up". I have something from just a few years ago...One day, Andrew was outside hammering away. I wondered what the heck he was doing but figured, he was happy and staying out of trouble. He was out there for some time. When he came in he gave me this square piece of wood with nails that said, "Hi Mom, Love your son, Andy." He took so much time to make this for me, hammering and bending nails to form the letters and he was pretty "grown up".
The best thing you have from Monica is Kai. You will always have that special piece of her with you. You have a hard job being a single parent but keep Monica's memory alive in your heart and in Kai's mind...telling stories and showing him pictures. I so wanted to suggest to Monica to make a video diary for Kai- but how do you do that? How do you tell someone to do something like that when all she wants to do is fight for her life?
I'm grieve with you and for you.
Praying always.

Dear, Dear Sol and Kai,
Just read your post about Monica's list. Its poignancy and the way you expressed your thoughts about it are so touching. I remember about a year ago, I asked Monica if she had started writing down anything, especially for Kai. She began to cry and replied that no, she hadn't. I apologized for making her sad and never brought up the subject again. I think you are absolutely right - she planned to be victorious over her illness and continue with life! Maybe taking time to write to you and Kai would have been too much like admitting defeat. The great thing is, you have this wonderful site full of her thoughts and expressions of love for you and Kai. One day he will be able to read it for himself and gain a deeper perspective of his incredible mom.
I hope the two of you are all settled into your new place. I continue to think of you and pray for you often.
Lots of love,

Praise God for the house and all those that helped you so much. Its great that you and Kai are now in the house though it sounds like its a rough start. I know you will enjoy the house and Kai will really like his yard. When we are in LA we will have to stop in and see you and Kai.

Hey Sol,
Congrats on the house- we can't wait to come and see it when we get some time off! We are so happy for you! You know that if we lived closer we would be there in a heartbeat to help you pack, and unpack, and clean and whatever else you'd need us to do. We miss you! Give Kai a hug and kiss from us!
