Sol and Kai and Family-

Our hearts are heavy with loss as we share our grief with you over the loss of our dear Monica. May you be comforted by the knowledge that you are not alone.

Our love and sympathy-

SOL,
I dont really know what to say because so many people have said some wonderful things. There is nothing I can say to ease the pain or make this any better, because even though I know what it feels like to lose a close friend and family member I have never gone through the challenging time that God has given to you. All I know is that God does everything to bring glory to Himself and the encouragement and the response that God is providing to you: through friends and family: is testament of that.
We all love you and your son very much and all I ask is that if you need anything just ask and we will answer. We are all praying for you and am thankful for the time we had with Monica and that we know she is sitting next to Our Holy Father in heaven.

Kenita and I met last night to pray along with the other 9 of us scattered in various cities and States. We poured out our hearts of sadness- more in tears than in words, I'd say. We prayed for you, Sol, as a father and as Monica's husband. We prayed for real rest, even as Monica is resting now- for you, for Kai, for all of Monica's family (Janelle, Karen, Mr. and Mrs. Lepper). We thank God for each precious memory we have of her, for having known her, and for the time when you and Kai entered the scene and made her life just that much brighter. Thank you for having loved our friend so well. We love you for it.

SOL,
I feel like I know you and Monica and that cute little Kai from your mom,(our moms work together) I was so sad to hear of the news of Monicas cancer, her long hard fight and finally her passing.
Please know her story and strength touched many lives.
Her beautiful soul and all the best parts of you both live on thru Kai.
May god give you the strength to hold on while letting go.
Forever changed by your story,
Wendy Williams

RE: talking to Kai about Monica:

Scott picked up some books for you at his Pastor's Retreat last weekend. The speaker was an author who has written on grieving and mourning. I don't know how helpful they will be (as I have not yet read them), but if you want me to bring them by this weekend (I will be in LA) or mail them to you, I can. One is written in a picture book story form for children. Scott looked through it and it may help. Email me back when you get a chance (susanjaneholman@gmail.com) All i have is Monica's email address and I don't know if you are checking that right now.

I doesn't get much worse than this; to have your beautiful, vibrant, loving 32 year wife die, to leave a 3 year old son bereft of his mommy, to leave a mom and a dad without their sweet, happy, funny daughter, to leave the circle of ten friends with only nine. And God knows it- He knows the horrible ache and pain of our hearts, he hears our cries in the stillness of the night. Almost the first words of heaven are: The worst thing you ever went through was death, and death is absolutely abolished here! "There will be no more death! there will be no more mourning, no crying, no pain." Not here, not ever! And He wipes away our tears. How does he know we will be coming with tears streaming down our faces? Because he knows we come from Earth and while we are on Earth tears are apart of our lives.
There is only one thing worse than death and that is never-ending separation from God. Since God is Life, a never-ending separation from God would be never-ending death, or eternal death. It would be never-ending pain, never-ending sorrow, never-ending regret, never-ending loneliness, never-ending darkness.
The very first words spoken from the Throne when the New Jerusalem descends to the new earth are: "Now the dwelling of God is with men and he will live with them. They will be His people and God himself will be their God."
There is only one thing more agonizing than death and that is to miss out on the Life that is truly Life. Because Jesus went through death, He broke the power of death; he became the source of eternal salvation. So let us approach the throne of grace so that we may receive mercy and find grace to help us in our time of need.
My love and prayers, Patty Hylton, Bethany's mommy

Sol,
I am so sorry to hear of Monica's passing. Although you and I do not know each other, and I have not seen or talked to Monica since college, I feel that I know you and your son through your blog. I thank you for this blog and keeping us all informed of Monica's condition. She is such an inspiration, and her testimony of her positive spirit is an encouragement to me. But that was Monica, and that is how I remember her- always smiling and positive! I know that she is bringing a smile to our Lord Jesus' face right now! She is in GLORY and not in pain any longer. It is such a comfort to know that she is wrapped in the loving embracce of our Lord Jesus - how amazing that must feel. My prayers will be with you and Kai, constantly. (My Mother and Father, Dawn and Forrest Smth, also send their condolences to you and Monica's parents.)

Sol, we have never met, but your mother speaks of you and your family often, she prayed so hard for you and your wonderful wife and son. Monica's faith was an inspiration to even those of us who never met her, I will never forget her even though we had never met. God bless you and Kai and keep you in his arms, Sheri Roberts
