Dear Sol,

You were a gift that God gave to Monica. As I read the blog and followed your journey, your love for Monica became more and more evident. You blessed her life. And now she continues to bless yours...with Kai. I know you are and will continue to be the very best father Kai could ever have. My prayer is that God will grant you divine wisdom in raising your son. I pray He will bless you and provide for your emotional, spiritual, physical, and financial needs. I hope you know that many, many people are continuing to pray for you and Kai. Even as the days and nights become less hectic and more quiet, just know that you are loved and prayed for. Please continue to write so we will know how to specifically pray for you and Kai. Thank you for opening your heart to us.

With love,

I don't know you and you don't know me. But I heard about your terrible loss while listening to the Polymorphic Podcast. My family would like to send our sympathies for your loss and from what Craig said on the podcast, the worlds loss. Thank you.

Dear Sol,
I just read your new post. As I sit here, tears are streaming down my face. I am so sorry that you have to go through this. Being at Monica's memorial made me wish I knew you both a lot better. You both are amazing people. I saw Kai at church Sunday and my heart just broke. That was always my prayer-that Monica be healed so she could raise her son and be with her husband that loved her so much. I didn't know you guys well, but could see the love between you. C.S. Lewis nailed it. I know that fluttering in the stomach. I feel it every time it hits me that Andrew is really gone. I pray for you and Kai, for comfort, for peace, for finances...
I know how you feel about the empty house too. My house was not as full as yours but people faded away after about two weeks and then the quiet set in. Andrew was the noise in this house, so it was doubly quiet. Still is. Just know that as people go back to their lives, they are still praying for and caring about you and Kai. Let us know if there is anything we can do to help.
Love and prayers.

My mother's heart breaks for you as you and Kai walk through this valley. So often in the Word we read "Fear not." I think it says it so often because God knows that is our human condition that fear is our reaction to uncertainity and our little hearts get caught up in fear. Isaiah 43:1-3 "Don't let fear overwhelm you, for I have redeemed you; I have called you by name; you are mine. When you pass through the waters, I will be with you; When you pass through the rivers, they will not sweep over you. When you walk through the fire, you will not be burned; the flames will not set you ablaze. For I am the Lord your God, the Holy One of Isreal, your Savior."
It doesn't say "if" it says "when"
Since I have not gone through what you are going through I know my words are so inadequate. Possibly you would find some solace listening to the Steven Curtis Chapman's story on focusonthefamily.org web site entitled "The God of all Comfort".
Thank you for putting the slide show up it was lovely! And thank you for your honesty, it helps us know how to better pray for you and Kai.
May you sense his nearness, Patty

Thank you so much for the updates, your honesty and courage. This is your story although the middle has an enormous tragedy it is certianly not the end. You have become so much like the person you described Monica to be someone who is strong and faithful, amazing in your trust in Jesus Christ and not afraid to admit that ilife is scary at times. Kai could not have been blessed with a better father, family and friends Thinking of you guys...

Hi Sol: Thank you for your post last night. It helps us to know specifically what to pray for. God continually brings both you & Kai to our minds thruout each day. We pray often for you. We're sorry to hear about your boss as well...can't imagine grieving a double loss like that! May Father God truly carry you & Kai in His arms one day at a time...& may you genuinely sense His presence, peace & comfort.

our family will continue to lift you in prayer. I don't know you personally, but have been so touched by Monica's journey. I'm sitting here all teary eyed at work reading this last entry. I just pray that you would be comforted, and your precious Kai would have peace in his heart. I also have a 3 year old boy, so my heart just aches for you.

Thank you for sharing tha CS Lewis quote. You and Kai have so many "seasons of grief" to go through together. As you and Kai go through this great sadness together, you will grow a bond with each other that other parents can only envy...
Kai is blessed to have such an authentic man as his father!
In His Love, Craig and Lisa

Dear Sol,

My heart aches for you. Reading your e-mail brings back a flood of memories when I've dealt with loss. There are no words anyone can say that will take your pain away, nor you loneliness and uncertainty. All I can say to encourage you is one word...TIME; although, I know that doesn't make anything better for now. Allow yourself to grieve. Have no expectations and be gentle with yourself. Sol, I saw the number of friends you and Monica have. Your church was full of them. Use them, they will help! All of us will continue to pray for your healing and for Kai's. Sending a huge hug your way, and lots of prayers.

Thank you so much for sharing the amazing slide show of Monica for us who were not able to make it to the memorial. It was so powerful to watch. She was such a strong, beautiful, and passionate person and it shows in all the pictures of her. Her smile and joy for life was so evident and something for all of us to strive for. My thoughts and prayers have been with you during this time. My heart is heavy for what you and Kai are going through and I will continue to keep you in my prayers. My God bless you abundantly and give you comfort beyond measure!
Much love,
