Results of Doctor’s Appointment today…

Hey Everyone,

I know you are anxious to know what the doctor said today.  I’ll start with the good news.

The good news is that there is no tumor on the chest wall.  Sol read the report wrong and there isn’t anything new there.  Yay!

Now the bad news…Sol originally thought all of the suspicious growths were less than a centimeter, but there is one in my liver that is 4 cm.  For it to become that large in only three months means that it is growing really fast.  There are multiple growths on my right lung – one near the top and some scattered toward the bottom.   The doctor said that they are all operable.  He also believes that they are all most likely angiosarcoma, but without a biopsy, it’s hard to be 100% certain.  He is concerned that a biopsy might cause internal bleeding, but is going to ask the specialists about that.  He has a call into the sarcoma specialist that I was referred to back in April to ask his opinion on the next step for me and the recommended treatment path.  We should hear back by Wednesday, but chemo has been mentioned along with clinical trials.  Now my cancer is classified as stage 4 because it has spread outside of its original location to multiple other tissues.  Stage 4 sounds so terrible, I can’t hardly say it.

With that said,  I have booked a flight to see my family.  I want to go see my sister and her little baby girl before I start treatment and can’t go anywhere.  I am bringing Kai with me and will stay as long as I can.  I do not have a return flight booked, but will book it as soon as they call me and tell me it’s time to start treatment.  Sometimes you just want your mommy and daddy!  Know what I mean?

I am so scared and in a state of shock.  I am praying that when they go in to biopsy it (if they do) that there will be nothing there!  I am praying for a miracle and would ask that you join me.  May the Lord be praised in the midst of my pain and suffering.

    Dear Monica,
You have often been on my mind the past few days after I heard about the news from your check-up, and I was recently presented with the news from your appointment today. I can’t even begin to imagine how hard everything has been for you, and what you are dealing with. You are such a strong woman to go through all of it and come this far, I am so proud of you, and so very encouraged. I just want to give you words that have been on my heart for you, and hope to encourage you. Over the past few months, and specifically in Africa, I have realized how much God is in control. He is in control of everything. The biggest thing I have learned is to be at peace, no matter what. Sometimes it is so human of us to worry, to look at things through our own eyes and not see things lining up and freak out, but when we take a step back, and let God work things out, we realize how perfectly everything was planned. So when I look at your circumstances, and so often ask why, I start to realize the glory of Gods plan. I can’t ever imagine how much of a blessing you have been to so many people through this all. You are a beacon of hope, and joy, and salvation to everyone who sees how you handle these circumstances. You are an incredible display of God and his power, and even more so his never ending peace. Whether it is apparent or not, I absolutely know you have touched many lifes by living yours. You are living for God and he is using you in all of your lives circumstances. In a time of utter turmoil and confusion you can stand on solid ground knowing God is watching out for you, and his loving hand will guide you through your whole life. As simple as it sounds, he loves you. He is more then capable of taking care of everything in the way he has them planned. When you get down on life, and it’s circumstances, no matter how hard they get, find some joy and peace in knowing that it is all Gods plan, and he is doing wonderful things, more wonderful then you know. I love you Monica. My friends and I are praying for you, but I know God has you. I send you and your family my love.
    Love always,
    Melissa Lloyd

We too have been asking God for a miracle Monica. There are SO MANY of our friends and family who are going thru crisis times. WE AS BELIEVERS NEED TO SEE A MAJOR MIRACLE FROM OUR GOD!! Maybe it’s a lack of faith on our part…but it’s being honest. May you find tremendous comfort and security with your family…and may your heart be refilled and refreshed with the joy of seeing your new niece!! We are praying for you and Sol and also praising God for WHO HE IS…tho’ we don’t understand the times right now. Love Dave and Kathy

I have never met you, but have been following your blog. I am sobbing my eyes out. My husband and I have been praying for you since I found your site on my friend’s blog. Fight the good fight. The Lord is your strength. By His stripes you are healed.

Monica, I am right there with you in heart, though we’ve never met. I know how terrifying the diagnosis can be, and at times there is no escape from the fear. PLEASE KNOW that I am bathing you in prayer, and so are many other total strangers. I have something I would like to mail you (my email is faith.gillis@gmail.com) but I know it is near impossible to keep up with all the correspendences, as much as you might wish to.

But the most important thing is that you have my prayers- myself and my best friend are praying a novena for a miracle cure for you (it’s a Catholic thing….) and will continue to check your website for new updates.

God bless you, my sister in Christ.
